Hessa Rashid Alfalasi

Animation Designer and Digital designer

BIOGRAPHY

Hessa Rashid Bin Dhabooy Alfalasi (born 2004) is a Dubai based Animation Design student currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Animation Design at Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates. Her interest in Art and Animation began at an early age after participating in a Character Design competition at the age of seven, an experience that sparked her passion for Visual Storytelling. She studied Art throughout her school years and continued to build her creative skills through both academic study and independent exploration. During her university education, Hessa developed strong technical abilities and gained experience working with  industry standard software such as Autodesk Maya, Blender, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Procreate, with a particular focus on 3D Animation, Motion Graphics, and Digital Illustration.

Alongside her academic work, Hessa has been actively involved in community based initiatives, including the Farjan Art Initiative (Dubai, 2024), where she contributed to painting donation boxes and spoke publicly about her creative process. Through her continued engagement with volunteer and outreach projects, she has received multiple Certificates of Recognition for her contributions to the Zayed University community. These experiences have influenced her creative practice and reinforced her interest in using Animation as a tool for Storytelling, Social Awareness, and Community Engagement. Her senior project reflects this focus by exploring themes of Accountability and Personal Growth through a narrative centered on reflection, responsibility, and change.

ARTIST STATEMENT

As an Emirati animation designer and Digital designer , I am deeply passionate about visual storytelling and character driven narratives. I see animation as a powerful design tool that allows me to communicate ideas, emotions, and messages in a clear, engaging, and meaningful way. What draws me most to animation is its ability to simplify complex experiences and transform them into stories that feel relatable and impactful to audiences.

My work focuses on both 2D and 3D animation, along with character design and narrative-based projects. I am particularly interested in how movement, timing, and visual composition influence the way a story is understood and emotionally experienced. For me, storytelling goes beyond creative expression  it is about solving communication challenges, guiding the viewer, building emotional connections, and delivering messages with clarity and purpose.

My cultural background plays an important role in shaping my design perspective. As an Emirati designer, I am inspired by cinematic storytelling and narratives that balance traditional values with contemporary ideas. I aim to create work that feels authentic while still connecting with universal themes such as responsibility, empathy, and personal growth.

As I continue to grow as a designer, I enjoy exploring new tools, techniques, and creative approaches that strengthen how my stories connect with audiences. I am constantly seeking to improve the clarity, engagement, and overall impact of my work. Ultimately, I believe animation is more than entertainment, it is a meaningful form of communication that can inspire reflection, understanding, and lasting emotional connections.
